Daily Challenge Ideas:
Day 1- Go paperless for a day!
The average American uses seven trees a year in paper, wood, and other products made from trees. This amounts to about 2,000,000,000 trees per year! Ideally, try to be as paperless as possible. Go paperless with bills, take notes on your phone or computer, send e cards, read news online. When it is absolutely necessary to print, do it on both sides of the page. And don’t forget to recycle your paper when you’re done with it!
Day 2- Reduce your waste- mason jar challenge
According to the EPA, 4.40 pounds is the rough average daily waste per person. That’s a lot! For one day recycle and compost as much as you can, and limit what you put in the trash. Every bit helps!
Day 3- Reduce Shower Time
Switching your bath for a shower can make a huge difference. Baths use approximately double the amount of water a shower uses. This not only saves water, but it saves you money on heating the excess water too. Shortening your shower time by just two minutes can save more than ten gallons of water. If everyone saved just one gallon, it would be two times more water saved than is currently drawn daily from the Great Lakes.
Day 4- Be a vegetarian for a day!
You don’t have to give up meat for life but try to commit to one meat free day a week. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef. And each hamburger that comes from animals on ex-forestry ground is responsible for the destruction of fifty-five square feet of forest.
Day 5- Plant your own tree in your yard
There are multiple benefits to planting a tree in your garden. It is good for the environment both the land and the air, it can shade your home and cut back your air con usage and it can even increase the value of your property. You could make it an annual event where each family member plants a new tree. If you can’t plant a tree in your own garden, buy any of our Get Clean products any Shaklee will plant one tree for you.
